Hi my name is Michael Linihan better known as "Woody". I am a Las Vegan, a Fly Fisherman and a CCI (Certified Casting Instructor). I have been a avid fly angler since the mid 90's and have been at a professional and instructor level since 05'. I started at LV Fly Fishing went on to Bass pro and then to Sportsmans Warehouse. I taught fly casting and fly tying at all mentioned businesses and I have an extensive knowledge of fly fishing Equipment and its specialized clothing. I have attended guide school in Montana at "Sweetwater Travel" and Yellowstone Outfitters and Guide School. I have traveled and fly fished extensively all over Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Southern California and of course Southern Nevada. I have bonefished in Long Is. Bahamas, Redfished in Louisiana and chased Striper boils and hunted Carp at Lake Mead. My overwhelming passion of this sport made me build my own drift boat, (pics in gallery) as a result, I have earned some and I quote "good rowing chops" on the big western rivers of our great country. I hope that my knowledge and this website will spark the interest of experienced, educate the novice and answers some questions to everyone in between. Thank you for stopping by, Woody

This will be the number one source for Fly Fishing information in fabulous Las Vegas. A common question is "Where do you fly fish in Las Vegas?"

Las Vegas has four regularly stocked urban ponds (trout in the winter and catfish in the summer). Some of the choices include Lake Mead, Willow Beach and Cold Creek. Lake Mead offers several opportunities while Willow Beach is located 16 miles below Hoover Dam. Cold Creek is another site located just outside of Las Vegas near Indian Springs. Southern Utah as lo offers some great trout fishing within a two hour drive of Las Vegas.

Many dedicated fly fishers who are willing to travel five hours and camp for the weekend will experience great fishing. Nevada offers many fly fishing sites north of Las Vegas but these sites are not fished as often as Utah's sites, California's Owens River or Arizona's Lees Ferry. I elaborate on all of these fishing areas in "five hour fly fishing."

Please be patient for this is a developing site. I hope this information will provide locals and visitors alike some insight on our limited and precious resources here in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.
